Every now and then you hear something that makes you feel it all. A song that takes you on a journey through the heart and soul, confronting the darkness and acknowledging the light. The night before filming this video, I saw portland based band Y LA BAMBA play “My love is a forest fire” live, and i felt that. We started talking a couple of months ago about collaborating on a video when they passed through LA on tour. Originally we were planning on doing a music video for another song and as I had other ideas planned nothing felt right until we started moving in the direction of what you see above. I feel like the older one gets and the more we experience on this planet, the more we protect ourselves, protect our hearts and begin to identify more and more with our intellect and thoughts. Creating a separateness to all that is around us. In reality we are all tender, fragile, innocent beings connected to everything and everyone, all hoping to get back to that place of innocence and openness. The feeling of being a kid again, where the simplest things were so awesome and magical. Well, it can be like that again. That’s what i think at least and for me this song affirms how precious it all is, the human experience, the mystery and magic of life. Anyway, making this video was a truly beautiful experience and we had a great time doing it. Check out Y LA BAMBA, they are amazing beautiful people who make amazing beautiful music.
